Milestones
Mark important dates on your traffic chart to correlate events with traffic changes.
Overview
Milestones are chart annotations that mark important dates on your dashboard traffic chart. Use them to record product launches, website redesigns, marketing campaigns, outages, or any event you want to correlate with traffic changes.
Creating a milestone
- Go to Site Settings for the site you want to annotate.
- Click the "Milestones" section.
- Enter a name for the milestone (e.g., "v2.0 launch" or "Black Friday campaign").
- Select the date the event occurred.
- Click "Save".
How milestones appear
Milestones appear as vertical markers on the dashboard traffic chart. When the milestone's date falls within the selected date range, a vertical line is drawn on the chart at that date. Hover over the marker to see the milestone name.
Deleting a milestone
To remove a milestone, go to Site Settings > Milestones and delete the entry. The marker will be removed from the chart immediately.
Use cases
- Product launches: Mark release dates to see how new features affect traffic.
- Marketing campaigns: Annotate campaign start and end dates to measure their impact.
- Website redesigns: Record when you deployed a new design and track before-and-after traffic patterns.
- Outages or incidents: Mark downtime events to explain traffic dips in your historical data.
- Content publishing: Note when major blog posts or landing pages go live.
Tips
Keep milestone names short and descriptive so they are easy to read when hovering over the chart. You can create as many milestones as you need — they will not clutter the chart unless multiple milestones fall on the same date or very close together within the selected date range.
